A return trip to Menehay Farm camp site where we stayed earlier in the year. 15 – 20 minutes walk down to Swan Pool Beach which is a short walk into Falmouth town itself.
The weather was lovely on Wednesday afternoon when we arrived and so we just spent the afternoon on the beach.
Nice peaceful sleep and then a day of wandering around Falmouth town with a coffee at Beacon Coffee which still has to be my favourite place for coffee anywhere.
A pasty and a pint outside the waterfront on the harbours edge. A slow meander back via Gillyngvase beach and Swan pool.
Completed a run down to the SWC path to finish off the day and me!
Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September 2026
Menehay Farm to Treza Campsite, Porthleven (via Poldhu Bay)

A lovely drive down to Poldhu bay which is a beautiful sandy bay with an excellent cafe and a good size NT car park. Spent a few hours having a coffee and being in the beach watching the surfing and body boarding. It looked like great fun!
A short drive back via Helston down to Porthleven which is another stunning old fishing village with an amazing harbour, great shops, pubs and restaurants. A really good relaxed vibe and definitely somewhere I would like to spend some time at any time of year.
Treza Campsite is a very laid back and relaxed site with no formal pitches or times to arrive or leave. Although it is all on a slope it was possible to get level with the ramps and the views down to the town were lovely. Also the best value site so far at £20 per night and although the toilets were effectively in a shed they were modern and spotless.
It was a 15 minute ish wander down into town and we had a nice walk around the shops and harbour area ending up with a beer outside the Harbour Inn. Lovely 😊🍺.
A nice peaceful night but windy the next day, we went back to town and had a coffee by the harbour before going around and sitting on the beach for a couple of hours which was remarkably sheltered.
A bit more strolling around the narrow streets and an excellent and very substantial pasty before settling in again outside the harbour inn for a late afternoon beer, like you do. 😊
Another peaceful evening and a good night’s sleep before making our way to Hayle and a visit to St.Ives.
Sunday 13th to Monday 14th September 2026
Treza Campsite, Porthleven to Atlantic Coast Holiday Park nr Hayle.

A slow drive over to the Atlantic Coast camping which we could get into by 12pm. A site consisting of mainly owned static caravans but nice ones on a relatively small and smart site right alongside the sand dunes.
It was an enclosed and very sheltered fully serviced spot and with only a dozen spaces it was also full that evening so we were lucky to get a slot at short notice. Although alongside the sand dunes it was actually a disappointing and difficult 1 mile walk to the sea which isn’t what we were hoping for but we managed to find our way there and spent a bit of time that afternoon by the sea.
The 5 minute walk to the bus stop in the morning was easy enough and a 35 minute bus ride into St.Ives, and what a very busy bus it was!
Had a good walk around the town and found somewhere for a coffee. Explored a bit more and checked out the three very impressive beaches that I don’t think I was aware of before.
Sarah got herself a crab sandwich and I had a ham hock, cheese and pickles toasty, both of which were very nice. A couple of minor showers but otherwise not too bad. Caught the 3:10pm bus back to the site and then followed an easier path to the far end of the beach where there was a large car park and some cafe / bars. We didn’t stop and walked back along the beach before negotiating the paths over the very high sand dunes taking yet another route… I’m sure people must get totally lost amongst them!
A nice peaceful night before moving on again in the morning to Perranporth.
