A lovely overnight stay at The Royal Oak with excellent staff and food. Initial walk up into the woods quite steep but lovely with some morning sunshine. A tough tough day today with about 20 miles walked. Stake pass was stunning but hard work although the walk down the other side and through the valley on very tough paths was more challenging. Ulverston to Coniston – 17.75 miles through rolling countryside and probably more than expected.
