Week 1
Day 1 – Monday 22nd September – Home to Longfield Farm CL, Whitfield, near Dover. – 140 miles.
Drove down to the site in about 3 hrs with a short break on the way down. Well kept grass field with views across to the channel and good basic service including EHU.
£15 for the night.
Day 2 – Tuesday 23rd September- Longfield Farm to Beaumont-le-Roger via Dover / Calais. – 173 miles.
Very short drive down to Dover after a very relaxing night but wet in the morning. Easy crossing with a coffee on board and then a drive down main roads and dual carriageways but no tolls making good progress to get away from the poor weather and set ourselves up for a nice easy journey. Weather improved with no rain and plenty of sun with just a short break for some lunch in a large lay-by and then a fuel stop. Arrived at the free aire in Beaumont-le-Roger which was very smart with all services completely free. We had a short walk around the edge of Town to stretch our legs, had a look at a ruined church / Abbey, bought some tarts for pudding at the Patisserie and back for a beer and some food. A good first day!
